Dear all,

I gave exam today, and got 560. I guess I am not made for exams. Surprisingly, I got 45 in Quant, that's what I am not able to digest. I was getting really difficult questions and I was hoping that I was getting them right. But score showed me that I was not. I still think that there was some problem in GMAT algorithm and GMAT people will announce the same in few days, chances of GMAC announcing the same are 0.0000000001%. Anyways, that is the faith and I am accepting it. I can not give more time and keep on frustrating again and again.

However, GMAT taught me number of good things and I will make sure to use them in day to day life. I was dejected in the afternoon, when I saw my outstanding score. :(, but now I am fine and know that this exam is not my cup of tea right now.

I will apply with the same score to few colleges. Will make my application very good. I think 8 yrs of exp will also play major role in my application.

I am really very thankful to everyone at BTG. I will not specify names here, so that I do not want to forget anyone. Wish everyone all the very best for his/her exam and application process.

Mate, I salute you for your determination. How much were you averaging in the mocks? I believe that the results of the mocks would give you an indication of your average score. My opinion,based on feedback from various people,is that your GMAT score will be within +-20% of your mock scores.

Thanks buddy.

In mocks I was getting more than 650 always. In GMAT perp I got 700 and 650. Frankly speaking, do not rely on any mock test. This is just my personal experience. No one can simulate GMAC algorithm. This is my personal opinion. I gave kaplan, Princeton, MGMAT, Grokit, Veritas everything.

Hmm...I think the preparation process of re-triers should be slightly different from the preparation process of first timers. Even I am worried about this. All the best for your future endeavours.

I will let you know some stories.

1. I know a person from Testmagic--urch.com:

TBAY: He has attempted GMAT more than 4 times, and he has left GMAT with 740. What a hard work he has done!. It is not measurable. I have seen his posts from the very beginning to the ending.

Your posts were very good. You deserve more. I will say that it was not your day.

2. I have heard about a girl, who is now in Wharton. She has attempted GMAT 13 times. Who cares the number of attempts? She is now in WHARTON. Who will say you have attempted 13 GMAT.

Some people are by born genius, and some are not. The second group MUST excel by practicing.

Let me know your break down.

I think you should not leave it.

My suggestions:

1. Apply with the score currently you have.
2. Have an admission.
3. Study GMAT for sometimes. I think all the efforts you made so far should not go in vain.

Never forget my dialogue:

Men never fail. Some of their formulas just don't work, so new formulas are required to create.

Have a your time relaxed........

I can understand your feelings, I scored 540 (Q48, V17, AWA 5) on my 1st attempt and I was totally shattered at that moment.

Currently, I'm preparing again for GMAT. Don't be depressed and give another shot man. You will do it and you can do it.

Hi Sudhanshu,

You have been great on the forum. You certainly deserve a lot more.
There is something probably wrong in the approach. I suggest you to take a break, and then start it fresh again.
A private tutor might not be a bad idea.

Before that, Do apply with the score that you have. My colleagues with 3 years exp entered into good colleges with a score of 570 and less. So its certainly possible to get admitted into a good college with this score. With 8 years experience, you will certainly hold an edge over others with your work-ex.

Dear Perfect, thanks a lot for your insight.

I really don't know what to say and what to write. My dream is to do MBA. I am not going to quit my dream and I will do it. I will try in different schools, which accept this score. Right now I don't want to give GMAT again because I want to focus on my wedding and on my application process. I want to start MBA in 2011.

About GMAT most shocking thing for me was my quant score. I got 45. After finishing Quant section I was so happy, thinking that I nailed quant and now only hurdle between me and good score was Verbal section. I got 22 in verbal, which was good for me compared with the scores of verbal in my last 2 attempts. But when I saw 45 in quant, I was not able to react in any way. I was completely blank.

I will try for GMAT again after taking some rest and after seeing results from schools. I know I am going to get a question from admission panel that why your GMAT score is consistently so bad? I have to prepare that answer.

Let's see how it goes. Anyways, thanks again for your kind words and best of luck to you in your dreams.

Hi Kvcpk,

Yes, now I also think that tutor is good idea. When I prepare for GMAT next time I am definitely think the same. But for now I am not thinking about GMAT. Thinking about my wedding only :)

I will start working on my application process and try to make it the best, so that my GMAT score can hide. Can you do me a favor? If possible can you suggest me those schools. I have few schools in my list, but will be good if I know more.

Hey Sudhanshu,
Just read your story.. i am exactly the same. I take mock tests and 650+ in all of them. However, the real exam gives me 590 and 540. I am taking the test in 10 days and I am scared to death. I dunno know what and how to crack this thing!
