Kaplan CAT tests tend to be like 100x (exaggerating of course) harder than the regular exam... Have you tried taking a non-Kaplan CAT? I've always done poorly on Kaplan exams - even back in the days when I was studying for the SAT and LSAT... Other CATs tend to be more realistic and will give you a more accurate reading on what to expect on the real exam! Don't get discouraged!!!

I haven't taken a test that isn't Kaplan. I hope that the Kaplan tests are harder that means the actual test should go a little smoother. I have been working my butt off to get my score up.

I would put the CAT aside and get back to learning the basics.

Then do some practise questions.

Only then should you be practising CATS.

I am just trying to get in practice questions where I can.

I've heard of this numerous times, and I don't think its the case. The math problems on the actual GMAT are much tougher than Kaplan's. I think the math section has much more translational work than Kaplan questions. Basically, Kaplan will give you a straight problem that you have to solve


ie, There are 6 sushi rolls available, and a choice of 3 must be made....


Whereas in the actual GMAT, I noticed that I had to translate the actual question itself to find out exactly what it was asking. That might not make sense, but imo, Kaplan questions are set up so the student can easily attack them. The GMAT questions are much more difficult.

Good to know. I need to use the official guide to review the math and see how to pick out the numbers.

Kaplan tests tend to be lower than actual results.
