390 to 500, I'm now closer to the target

Hi everyone,

I'm non-native english speaker and my english is not that good. I know that with the little amount of time that I have, I can't get a decent Gmat score. So I just cut to the chase and had my school picked and they asked me for only 560.

I took the test right away without any preparation and I got 390(Q34 V11) then I decided to work on math, which is, for me, much easier than verbal. But of course I studied a little for verbal. After a month of studying using only OG and Kaplan800 I ended up with 440(Q42 V11). The fact that verbal hasn't got any better was so disappointing.

I decided to focus on verbal, so I studied Manhattan SC, CR Bible and Kaplan for RC. I didn't really work hard for RC, basically because I don't get the whole picture of the passage in most of the times, and since the score that I'm shooting for is not really high, then I've decided sacrifice one of the RC passages to gain some time for the rest of the questions. I also used numbers properties book to keep Quant skills fresh.

1 week prior to the test, I decided to start doing some practice tests, the score were as follows:

MGMAT1: 470 (Q40 V16)
Kaplan1: 480
Kaplan2: 530
MGMAT2: 530 (Q44 V20)
MGMAT3: 580 (Q42 V28)
GMATPrep: 480 (Q41 V17)

2 days before the test I caught a really bad cold but I wrote my test anyway and scored a 500(Q36 V23). I don't know what happened but I never scored below 40 in the Quant in any practice test. My verbal rose from 11 to 23.

My plan for the next test is to rise my Quant score over 44 and maintain Verbal score in upper 20ish or better. But I really don't know how to achieve that.

Bandar,
I generally feel for a less than 600 score. content is what is required. so work on basics. MGMAT's books are awesome for that. And work with OGs. see the solution as well, not just the question!

Rest, try , try and try. Surely success will come! :)
