l = k/3 ; w = k/2 ; h = k/2

only difference is
l:w:h = 3:2:2 implies
l = 3k ; w = 2k ; h = 2k

I understand that x = k^3 / 12 but how do you get B from the point?

hi,

well what devesh says is:

l:w:h = 3:2:2 implies
l = 3k ; w = 2k ; h = 2k

Therfore the equation now becomes
lwh = x
==> 3k * 2k * 2k = x
==> (12)k^3 = x

instead of x = k^3 / 12
