imo D

Chain of thought:
1. Most of the families comprise of retired people.
2. These families live without their children or grandchildren

Now moving on to the answer choices:

a. irrelevant - passage does not talk about where the furniture is coming from.

b. Because there are few children would not necessarily make an industry immensely profitable.

c. Residents prefer renting furniture but we are talking about children's furniture. The settlements we are talking about have very few children.

d. The families who reside here comprise of retired people whose kids and grand kids live away. These families rent furniture for their grand kids whenever they come by.

Large # of retired families = large # of grand kids = large amount of children's furniture rentals. ('D' is the answer)

e. we don't care about the quality of the furniture in this argument - irrelevant

B is not correct because it says .... provides the only source of funding....
Usage of extreme words like only is rare in correct answers.
Donations from wealthy individuals can be not the only source - visitors, students and govermental donations can be very significant. ELIMINATE

C is not correct because primary reason of not adopting the change is not the main idea of the argument. ELIMINATE

D I think is one of the nearest to to correct. But "only" again is not good, too. HOLD IT

E It is the main ised of the argument. ELIMINATE

So A is most accurate and not extreme. TAKE IT

IMHO
