If 3 < 3t – 6 < 18, which of the following must be true?

(A) t = 5
(B) 5 < t < 6
(C) 4 < t + 1 < 9
(D) 12 < 3t < 24
(E) t < 3 or t > 8

9< 3t < 24
3< t <8
3+1 < t+1 < 8+1
4 < t+1 < 9.

Divide by 3.

1 < t – 2 < 6

+2

3< t < 8 // It will help us to check others options.

+1

4< t+1 < 9

From the first equation we know t > 3 & t < 8

c). 4 < t + 1 < 9 qualifies.
