What would be the answer for this and why?

I think you need advocated that.. + subjuntive so D/E are out.
B changes the meaning of the sentence.
Between A and C I prefer C, but I am not sure...

Any thoughts?

C: Africa was not the land
D: Africa was not the land, also that is missing
E: Africa is wrongly placed, also that is missing
