(A) that the North American Indians have developed advanced full-year calendars basing them
(B) of the North American Indians who have developed advanced full-year calendars and based them
(C) of the development of advanced full-year calendars by North American Indians, basing them

This is my first explanation. So please go easy on me in case I goof up!!

I believe my reasoning would be the following:

Only one real event here which occurs in the past - so simple past tense is required.

A. Incorrect - Wrong usage of past perfect - as this event does not follow another event

B. Incorrect - Evidence is not of the off the Indians - but of the development of the calendar and again misplaced modified - "based them" seems to refer to the Indians not the development of the calendar

C. Incorrect - I think there is a misplaced modifier - "basing them" seems to modify the North American Indians not the calendar

D. Incorrect - Again the focus of the evidence is not on the Indians but on the development of the calendar

E. Correct answer

A particular rule of MGMAT SC guide really helps to eliminate 3 answer choices[B,C,and D] in under 10 seconds. The results of study, discovery,a hypothesis, or any kind of result must be followed by that.

that is NOT optional here.

However, do NOT confuse this with hypothetical. Command hypothetical requires verb in root form, but the sentence in context does NOT.

Eliminate A for using incorrect tense [ have developed].It has to be past tense ,for we know that American Indians lived centuries ago.

We are left with E,the correct answer.
