Hey there,

The basic difference is that "supposed" is an adjective, while "supposedly" is an adverb.

"Supposed" is an adjective that should modify the noun "predecessors".

The adverb "supposedly" incorrectly modifies the proper adjective "Mediterranean".

The predecessors are not "supposedly Mediterranean" (i.e. -- whether they are or are not Mediterranean is not in question here).

"Supposed ... predecessors" correctly expresses the idea that other "megalithic monuments" are thought of as predecessors to the monuments at Brittany.
