How it could be subjunctive mood? The officers do not have state any desires/hope/proposal. They are just placing a condition in front of reporters. I feel it should be (B).

Also the phrase does not use any of the word as stated by MH-SC.

financial officers don't wanted it to happen and are trying to stop.

IF the officers don't put condition and reporter put their names then it becomes subjuntive.

Officers should have put condition before speaking to reporters.

Desire or subjunctive will come if something that is impossible or possible but difficult.


Its a tricky question.
what is OA?

Officers already spoke. This is a past event.

They laid down a condition that the press will not name them, if the press wants them to speak and give any info

The press is now divulging some other info with out divulging their names

The officers expressed a wish or required a promise to be made and they got it.

Isn't that subjunctive??

My answer to this question was B.

OA is C..

However some people opine tht the answer is A. (subjunctive mood).

GMAT Tutor, please explain the correct answer.
