549. Once an apolitical confrontation of the world’s best athletes, the Summer Olympics have been increasingly politicized in recent years as the superpowers have denied many of the best athletes’ access to competition.
(A) been increasingly politicized
(B) been increasing politicization
(C) been of increasing politicization
(D) politicized, increasingly,
(E) increased politicization

I chose E because I felt have increased is parallel with have denied .

I think A is the correct answer.

B - been increasing politicization - incorrect...does not make sense
C - been of increasing politicization - incorrect again does not make sense
D - politicized, increasingly - Olympics have not politicized, they have been politicized.
E - increased politicization - changes the meaning so Incorrect

Please correct me if I am wrong!
I have started to realize that I am the one!!!

have been is used since the have already been politicized and is still being politicized - the action started in the past and continues in the present and hence have been is used.

"politicization" is awkward and hence ans A is correct

Superpowers have denied - the verb in boldface is in present perfect tense so to be parallel the passive verb to be politicize needs present perfect tense to have been politicized. Therefore A is the only choice that keeps parallelism.

The key is phrase 'in recent years', which means 'have been' is requied because action started in past and countinued for some time.

In addition, all other options change the meaning as well.
