Is x greater than 1?

Is x greater than 1?

(1) 1/x > -1.
(2) 1/x^5 > 1/x^3.

Is x greater than 1?
(1) 1/x > -1.

The above condition is true only if x<-1 and x>0. So, we can't tell, for sure, that x is greater than 1.
(2) 1/x^5 > 1/x^3.
The above condition is true only if x<-1 and 0<x<1. So, we can tell, for sure, that x is NOT greater than 1.

So, statement II is sufficient to answer the question. IMO B
