If 6 men can do a job in 10 hours, they expend 60 man-hour of labor to do the job. If these 6 men ork for anything less than 10 hours, they will only do a fraction of the job. So they begin at 11AM and say they got stopped by the boss at 5:PM. That is 6 hours of work they have completed. Lets see what fraction of the work they have done.Vemuri wrote:Answer with your reasoning.
6man * 6 hours/6 man * 10 hours = 36/60 man hours. They still have to do 24man-our of labor. Now between 5 and 6PM, one more person will be joining them, making it 7men, who will only have worked for 1 hour at 6PM. 7man * 1 hr/24man *hour is the fraction of the work these 7 will do. They leave 17 manhour of labor undone (24-7). Then the boss adds another man between 6PM and 7PM making them now 8men trying to do 17 man hour in one hour. 8/17. At 7 PM he stops them and say (boys you are one group of lazybones. They have 17-8 = 9 man hours to go between 7 and 8PM. He sounds the order again and adds one last man making them 9 men doing 9 man-hour of labor: 9/9 and at 8PM they do complete 60manhour/60man hour of job. He dismisses them without pay. Cruel boss.
