A. x/(x + 2)
B. x/(x + y)

With the addition of 2 men and 4 women, there are (x + 2) men out of (x + y + 6) persons

Thus, the probability that a man is selected = (x + 2)/(x + y + 6)

The correct answer: E

Hope this helps!

\(x\) men
\(y\) women

\(x+2+y+4\) is the total
\(=x+y+6\)

\(x+2\) is the number of men

so \(\frac{x + 2}{x + y + 6}\, \Rightarrow\) E

After the addition of the new members, there are (x + 2) men and (y + 4) women in the group, and so the total number of individuals in the focus group is now (x + y + 6). Thus, the probability that a man is selected is (x + 2)/(x + y + 6).
