Cramya,

I just browsed through the forum and saw this thread. I have not posted this question. But, when i got too confused, i thought that i shall take help from the experts. I tried by two or three methods but every time i got the same answer of 17.8 which is not thr in any of the answer choices. So, i thought let me double chk with all the experts if my reasoning or concepts are flawed..

My bad. My curiosity overtook my check process to see who originally posted the Q. Was just curious on the source and definitely the right thing to do (I would have done the same) is to clarify with forum member's help any questions/doubts we have

I am hoping this is just a one time mistake on the website's part because I would hate to start negative press. This was taken from the GMAT question of the day on Platinum GMAT. (The date of this question is the day of the original post.)

Agreed - it wouldn't be good to start negative press if it really was just a one-off mistake. I haven't heard of the source before this, so can't report in general.

It was more than just a simple typo, and also more than just something you could argue with, such as the reasoning for a CR answer. At the same time, a company produces so many problems that there are bound to be a few mistakes scattered throughout all of them.

So, I would check this source out carefully. If it turns out to be a one-off error, then ignore it (the error), and feel confident in using the source. If you discover more errors of the same type (that is, fundamental content errors, not just typos, etc), then you may want to look for a new source.
