Question.

Marc Murphy, the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants in Manhattan, is roasting turkey breasts in one oven while he braises the legs in the other.

A. the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants in Manhattan, is roasting turkey breasts in one oven while he braises the legs in the other
B. Landmarc restaurants' chef and owner in Manhattan, roasts turkey breasts in one oven while braising the legs in another
C. the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants in Manhattan, roast turkey breasts in one oven while braising the leg in another
D. the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants of Manhattan, roasted turkey breasts in one oven while braising the legs in another
E. the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants in Manhattan, roasts turkey breasts in one oven while braising the legs in another

OA is E, I have successfully eliminated choices B,C and D, but not able to remove choice A.
Can someone please let me know what's wrong in A.

Parallelism, I fear.

the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants in Manhattan, is roasting turkey breasts in one oven while he braises the legs in the other

The parts in bold are NOT parallel although connected with "while".

E on the other hand does just that.

I didn't get it, how E follows parallelism ( roasts and braising).
May be I am missing something..can u pls tell.

My mistake. I did not even look at E and presumed that it must be parallel. I take back my previous explanation.

E --> the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants in Manhattan, roasts turkey breasts in one oven while braising the legs in another

The part in bold is a clause that describes what the chef does when he roasts turkey breasts.

A --> the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants in Manhattan, is roasting turkey breasts in one oven while he braises the legs in the other

The part in bold makes it a present continuous sentence and the part after while does not fit, because that is a general statement [simple present tense]

Say for example: He often goes to the market, taking his son along with. [taking his son --> clause that describes an action that happens along with the man going to the market]

But, He is going to the market, takes his son along with --> sounds absurd and is also not parallel. This sentence would be right if it were --> He is going to the market and is taking his son along with.

I hope this helps and apologies for my previous explanation.

Still Some confusion :( , In answer choice E , how the two are parallel, roasts (in simple present tense) and braising (continuous tense)).

The part in bold is a clause that describes what the chef does when he roasts turkey breasts. I have tried to illustrate the use of a clause in a sentence through a crude example in italics below. The sentence describes two actions at the same time. A simple tense that is connected to the other action with the help of a present continuous tense.

A --> the chef and an owner of the Landmarc restaurants in Manhattan, is roasting turkey breasts in one oven while he braises the legs in the other
