What is wrong with B? it refers to company, isn't it?

it is un-necessary and wordy here.

B - The company seems as if <a situation> - Incorrect.

C - It seems as if <a situation> - Correct.

B changes the meaning and C keeps the meaning as it is.

B means company seems something
C means something else seems about company

Additionally, It seems as <some situation is happening> is less awkward/wordy than <something> seems as if <it>.... The GMAT rewards the most terse answers.
Now I have another q.
Is the idiom always seems AS, and not seems LIKE?
