Hi, I've read a few posts on this subject but was wondering if anyone would be able to give me some updated advice. I am trying to find out which schools are recommended for someone who wants to get in to value investing after finishing the programme.
My profile: Swedish Male, 30yo, 4y MSc Economics/Finance from top 3 Swedish university w close to perfect marks. 6 years experience as London-based interest rates trader in US top tier IB, currently unemployed.
GMAT: not done
I quit my job in Feb13, and after some time off I've realised that I have a very strong interest in equity investing with a value approach. The best way for me to be able to bridge the interest rates - equities gap and land a job on the buy side seems to be via a good MBA. In addition I hope to further my knowledge on the subject while building a useful network.
The obvious one to apply for is CBS, but which are the other schools to consider? Also, how should I think about choosing between a lower-ranked school that offers value investing courses vs a top ranked one that doesn't?
Seeing as I haven't done a TOEFL and GMAT test yet, is it too tight to apply for fall 2014 if I start now? Is there any data on the percentage of accepted students that used a consultant vs those that didn't get accepted?
This turned into a lot of questions, but I am a complete beginner on the subject so any help is very appreciated!
P.S. It doesn't have to be a US school, but given the choice I'd love to spend a few years on the other side of the pond.
