Hi there,

Congrats on your offer from BYU; I know it can be tough to be waitlisted or turned down when you have taken the time to put together your application and take the GMAT etc. In terms of re-applying and waiting etc, you should think about where you really want to go... if it is W.P. Carey, and not BYU, then yes most likely you should apply again next year. If you feel now is an ideal time to go to business school and you are also happy at BYU then that might be your answer.

It's hard to assess without seeing your full application what areas you could strengthen or that might have hurt you in the application process, and it's also difficult to compare yourself to the 'profiles' of other applicants without reading their application essays and their experiences, goals, and stories--- MBA admissions decisions are generally made with a holistic approach, assessing each applicant's entire application and what they will bring to the program and how it fits into their goals. It is likely that you could use improvement in your application essays and explanations of what you bring to the program, why you want an MBA, how it will help you achieve your goals, and why W.P. Carey is right for you.

If you do decide to re-apply you'll want to re-do your application and essays to better show these points as well as anything that has changed since this year's application. You may want to consider getting feedback on your essays/applications to gain further insight into strengths and weaknesses of your application, either from an MBA admissions consulting service like ours or another one, or at least from friends/colleagues who know business schools well if possible, to hear another's perspective on what you are presenting in your application.

Wishing you the best of luck, hope that helps!
