Angle bisector theorem:
In ∆ABC, if AD bisects ∠A to form ∆ABD and ∆ACD, then ∆ABD : ∆ACD = AB:AC.
Thus:
140/∆ACD = 10/14
∆ACD = 196.
I agree with Anurag: this question seems beyond the scope of the GMAT.
