A. 115
B. 120
C. 124
D. 130
E. 132

Answer: E

Solution:

Since each minute interval on an analog clock is 360/60 = 6 degrees, the minute hand moves 24 x 6 = 144 degrees clockwise from its vertical position pointing at the number 12. The hour hand also moves; however, it moves at a much slower pace. The hour hand only moves 5 x 6 = 30 degrees per hour and thus, in 24 minutes, it only moves 30 x 24/60 = 12 degrees clockwise from its vertical position pointing at the number 12. Therefore, the angle formed between the minute and hour hands is 144 - 12 = 132 degrees.

Answer: E
