Try as follows
\(G=S+56000\)

Company Average \(= \dfrac{120S+160G}{120+160}\)

Substituting \(S= G- 56000\)

\(\dfrac{120G−120\cdot56000+160G}{280}=G−24000\)

So, Company Average - Silver group Average
\(= G-24K-G+56K\)
\(=32K\)
\(=32000\)

Therefore, C

Solution:

We can let the average salary of the silver employees = s, and so the average salary of the gold employees = s + 56,000.

Since there are 120 silver employees and 160 gold employees, the average salary for the whole company is (120s + 160(s + 56,000)) / (120 + 160). Let’s simplify this expression:

(120s + 160(s + 56,000)) / (120 + 160)

(120s + 160s + 160 x 56,000) / 280

(280s + 160 x 56,000) / 280

280s/280 + 160 x (56,000/280)

s + 160 x 200

s + 32,000

Thus, the company’s average salary is $32,000 more than the average salary of the silver employees.
