Hi,

One week before I got call from Hult Recruiting officer to fix the interview call with Admission director.

I dont know how they got my mail ID and all info, but now they said to me that your profile is good, you apply for this collge, you have good hopes and we are recommending your name for scholership.

My GMAT score is 550
I checked on site, Hult BusinessSchool is ranked as 27 in The Economist.

I am really amused that I have hope for such a high level college with GMAT score.
Even I have suspition in my mind that, is all the info correct about the college, and its a hyperbolic about the collge.

Please suggest me , about Hult and should I apply forthis college or not.
For reference my resume summery is as follows,
1.) Acads 10th :83%, 12th : 90%, 4 yrs engineering :67% for all semisters.
2.)4.3 yrs of IT experience in service , and technology industry.
3.) Stable family background and lot of extracuricular activities.

Also if this collge is good please suggest me the best location of choice from the following
Boston, SanFransico, Dubai, Shanghai,london

I suppose its a mediocre school, in UK behind Cambridge & Oxford (Tier one), Durham & Cranfield (Tier two), and possibly others


If I had to chose between Boston, SanFransico, Dubai, Shanghai,london , I'd go for Boston...however, it depends on your future goals, target industry & country....

I am an alumni of Hult. You have to look beyond the rankings and alumni networks. Your profile before your MBA (academic and pro) counts more than you MBA alma mater in definitive. You won't get interviews just because you have a Harvard or Cambridge degree or you are coopted by a VP at Citigroup of Goldman, you will have good interviews because your overall profile including your experience and previous education is appealing for x or z reason to the recruiting officer. Anyway, in this economy, if you are looking for a $100k+ role in your favorite industry, you will have to go head to head with a lot of brilliant profiles combining top notch education and experience. If your background is appealing, your a Hult MBA will open you the doors of any employer. I had some for very nice roles with CalPers, HSBC, Dexia, Citi, Votonbel, BlackRock, Acel KKR, Barclays, BNY Mellon, or some very respected hedge funds for example. But if you intend to stay long in your next role, you have to be picky and get a real feel of the team and culture you are embarking with. Besides, in finance nowaydays, speaking from experience, the competition is rude, globalization brings profiles from all over the planet for the same roles, and there is many may bright people around

Concerning the academics, most MBA have similar programs. The difference for Hult would rely on 2 main advantages: human size (you won't be a grain of rice in a 600+ batch), short 1 year program (but concentrated, no vacations and all your week end in) and trully global (you can room around their campuses in the US, Brazil, UK, UAE and China and design your own international profile). You can also, like I did, take classes at neighboring schools. I did it with Boston College.

The school was created in 1964 under the name Arthur D Little Management Institute, but it's current form and the real launching of the MBA date back only from 2006, so the evolution of the MBA and the school reputation since then is quite impressive. And I am not a ranking gogo, or fan is you prefer.

Some of my classmates ended up in consulting (McKinsey, Bain, Accenture, KPMG, PA Consulting etc.) others in Advertising (Saatchi & Saatchi, WPP, etc.), financials (banking, insurance, traditional and alternative asset managers like for example State Street, Capital One, Visa, Amex, Wells Fargo, Metlife, American Family Insurance) or in industrials/healthacare/IT (Volvo, Douglas Quikut/Berkshire Hataway Group, United Labs, SAP, etc.).

Had an interview with Amber, she first offered me SF as Boston was full in capacity for Indian quota. Now she wants me in anyhow even in Boston after talking to me for half an hour(interview).

I am quite skilled and have a mixture of work experience. Do you think a one year Hult would be good for me ? I am putting in some strong apps for SMU-COX and May's as well. But I am interested in Hult cause of the 1 yr scheme. But m skeptical if 3 years of experience is enough to land a 100k job with a 1 year MBA ? I can differentiate myself and stand out in the class-but still i think I dnt have enough yrs of work ex under my belt.

Your exeprience is a bit short for a 1 year MBA, you have a good point, but it's up to you. Some MBA classmates where very young and landed associate roles at Accenture or McKinsey for example. Where except Hult did you apply? In short term: Columbia (experience important but lenght not that relevant), Isead (5-10 years of experience required), Hult (3-5 years required). Long term: NYU, Harvard, MIT, Stanford, Wharton and Chicago in the US, LBS and IE in Europe. But if you can make it at Indian School of Business too why not? Easier for you. Anyway, your GMAT score is decent and don't believe the averages displayed by schools (min required), the rest of your application is also very important, especially your work experience.

If you got an interview in round 2 to any of the top schools you should check out this awesome interview guide I found!

It's made by current HBS students with their questions and analysis from their actual interviews, and it's only $35. Which compared to the application fee is totally worth it. It says that it is an HBS specific guide, but that's just because of the local info and campus map, etc. I think it can be an excellent prep for any tough interview.

helo everyone, I was hoping to seek advise on the Hult MBA program at Boston.
I have 8 years of experience and 5 years of Managerial experience in roles such as operations management, coaching and mentoring leadership development-HR and operations consulting.

If you could please suggest that seeking an admit at Hult shall be of benefit to my resume .
