In C, "closely resembled" without the use of "that" is awkward, also C seem to suggest that the resemblance that once existed is no more there.

Sorry but couldnt get ur point, can u elaborate.
Btw A has perfect parallelism in that both the items connected by the conjunction 'and' are in present tense.
