In the above sentence "THAT" introduces a subordinate clause and it modifies a noun. Why is that modifying factors instead of albeit which is nearer to it.

Isn't "A higher interest rate" the subject? That means it has to be "keeps" since the subject is singular. But someone said the OA is B, which shows "keep." Can someone explain?

I think the answer to this one is C. It has to be keeps and not keep. Now between A and C you will have to decide whether it has to be "like" or "as".

No, this can't be right.

Find the subject: "What keeps the housing market from spiraling out of control" ... A higher interest rate

Shouldn't "a higher interest rate" be singular, therefore "keep" should be "keeps"? Why did you use "one of the factors" as the subject?

one of the factors - singular, hence LIKES
and Like is used to compare between nouns, where as As is used to compare between clause.

Correct me if I am wrong.

Usage of "One"
In sentences that contain the phrase one of.....

1. In simple form one of or one of the, a singular verb is used.

e.g - One of the books is missing from my cupboard.

2. In sentences that contain phrases one of those who or one of the things that, a plural verb is used.

e.g - He is one of our employees who are always alert.

3. When only precedes one of /one of those, a singular verb is used. (Do not mix this rule with the 2nd rule stated above)

Answer: C

Even if you dint know the 3rd rule the it in "as it did earlier in the decade " should lead u to answer C.
