Each statement by itself does not tell you anything about the relation of the slopes. Imagine it or sketch it.

Try the two statements together. Sketch the situation and you will see that if both lines pass through that point (5,1), greater y intercept means lower slope. So the relation of the slopes can be determined (n has grater intercept and lower slope than p).
