isn't there something missing from the choices?

Either C --> regarded as a pest by gardeners because of its burrowing activity spoiling

or E --> regarded as a pest by gardeners because its burrowing activity that spoils lawns and gardens.

Singular verb is what we should look for but either of the above words in bold is missing, IMO.

In all the sentences above (except E) 'of' is unnecessarily used creating a prepositional phrase, which is not needed.

Also, 'mole' is the singular subject and requires singular verb 'its'.
The -ing form of spoil is incorrectly used and makes no sense.

My mistake. Have no idea how I missed the 'its'. Ya, E for sure!

C,

The mole is a nocturnal insectivorous mammal regarded as a pest by gardeners because of burrowing activity spoiling lawns and gardens.

We are unable to answer what/who does the burrowing activity! - Not clear enough. Hence OUT

Hope it helps,
