URGENT : Need to cancel the GMAT, which is tomorrow

I had got 740 on GMAT in my first attempt. I decided to retake the exam. However, due to some reason I don't want to retake it now and want to cancel it. The date is tomorrow. I want to cancel the exam right now.

1) What is the impact of this cancellation?
2) Do schools come to know that I had rescheduled the test and then decided to cancel it ? I.e when I send the scores to them, will they see a 0 or a "Not Applicable" for my second attempt?

Just call them up (on valid office timings) and get a telephonic cancellation.you loose your 250$.
- you wont get a zero or loose your golden 740 (wish I have that)- but schools will come to know about this scheduled attempt- you will not be able to retake for next 31 days.

{source of info- my friend did this when he freaked out by loss of a night's sleep over something.- HOWEVER U DO WANA CROSS CHECK THIS- i don't remember 100% of what all happened to that guy.}

Hi Bblast,

I called up pearson vue in the US.. they told that in the scorecard, only one score will be there and the schools won't know of this scheduled attempt.

I have already cancelled the appointment.. yeah, lost $250, but then didn't want to screw up and get a lower score.... although schools do take the highest score, but found out from some gmat instructors/admissions consultatnts that some schools do take it negatively if you score less or the same as your previous attempt..

So, just thought of giving it up and be satisfied with the 740 and apply with it...

740 with any split is an awesome score man !!!. Thanks for the good wishes. And good to know that schools wont know about this scheduled attempt of yours. I am lurking on this forum for inputs on the Integrated reasoning section which has gone live(prototype) today.

Would be interested to know what made you schedule another test when you already have 740...

What are you thinking writing it twice when you have a 740. That's the 97th%! Most people would kill for a score like that! The average score for a top school is like 710, which you are over by 30 points! I don't think you would improve your chances by rewriting.

This reminds me of a story. There was this guy that I went to highschool with, who I took a first year Physics course with. After our midterm, which was a tough exam, he asked me how I did. I was reasonably pleased with my score of 78%. He said, "wow! that's GREAT!" Then he got his exam back and I asked him how he did and he said, "well I didn't do so well. I kind of bombed it". I asked him what he got, and he said 93%. You remind me of that guy.

Relax man. Even if the '0' appears on your score report, most B-schools take into consideration your highest score.
