Got a phone call from Hult

by bblast » Sat Feb 05, 2011 10:00 pm
This morning I got a call from a lady who is the admissions director of Hult.

A few days back I had registered on their website just to check out their programs. The lady took a short interview of mine asking grades work-ex etc and offered me admission to the San Francisco campus if of course I passed their half hour telephonic interview. Their Boston campus is full.

My interest is operations management, she told me that they do offer subjects and courses in the same.
Any idea about the San Francisco campus ?
Cheers !!

bblast,

Hard to say whether Hult is the best you can do without knowing your profile, but such a fast-to-the-draw admissions decision would make me nervous about their selectivity and the quality of the people you'd be studying with.

Good luck,

Kumar, you will find many more calls and postal emails from the schools in coming days. Do some research and find out the target schools for you. Here is one link that should help you to select your target business schools ==> Here.

Good luck!

Thank you for your responses.

I have a decent profile - GMAT 650/5.5, first class grades in engineering, 3 years work ex in IT and entrepreneurship, ngo and good recos. Writing good essays.

I know we need to match our profiles to schools. I have already done that and have my list ready. But would Hult San Fransisco qualify as a safety school for my profile ? As Paul says above, if I am approached by the college I have to be skeptical about to offer. But who knows ?

Any idea about the school in general guys ?
Cheers !!

bblast,

Hult recently made a big move in FT's rankings, up from 94th place to 61st, which places them - according to FT - ahead of schools like UNC Kenan-Flagler, USC, Wisconsin, and Iowa. Their average salary of $107,000 is respectable, though it's below UNC and USC's and about the same as Wisconsin's. Its 'percent employed' after 3 months is 80%.

Hult's biggest strength is its internationalism. Given your 650 GMAT, Hult may be a good place for you in the sense that some of the schools comparable to it (UNC, USC, Wisconsin, Iowa etc.) have higher average GMATs than your 650. So you may want to give them a closer look (e.g., ask them where they place their MBAs, geographically and in terms of typical employers). If that fits your needs, maybe give them the nod.

Good luck,
