I just took the test today and got a disappointing score 680(50Q/37V).

I dont know how VP constructs total score based on raw score.

I think the score is quite accurate.
On real GMAT I got 670( Q-48, V- 34)
I think you should allow Test Prep companies to have some tolerence.
I think the Veritas Prep has the most accurate scoring mechanism of all of them out there !!

I took Manhattan CAT and got same - 680 with (48Q/35V), and on my last encounter with GMAT I scored 670 (51Q/29V).


The main point is:
Manhattan ---> Veritas
Q: 48 -----> 50
V: 35 -----> 37

Still my total score is 680. I checked with Veritas Instructor and he told me that Veritas does score low.

Hello, I just took the free Veritas Prep pratice test and was shocked to see a 620 (Q45, V31). I felt Quant was quite decent, but in the verbal section there seemed to always be 2 answer choices that could be correct. I'm quite frustrated at this - does anyone know how accurate the test is? I've sort of 'saving' the GMATPrep tests for another 2 weeks..

Gave the Free practice test yesterday.

Quant was a little too easy and
verbal seemed a little weird....not sure if their scoring
process resembles with actual GMAT.

i dont know about veritas but manahattan gmat's exams were very close to what i actually got on the gmat. within 20-30 points

I'm taking the Veritas Online class. Last week I scored a 660 on a VeritasPrep practice test (41V, 43Q). Today I took the GMAP Prep practice test and scored a 640 (37V, 42Q). I felt pressed for time on the GMAT Prep and had to guess on the last two questions on both sections, where I finished the VeritasPrep quant with 10 minutes to spare. I didn't sleep very well last night and my mind was a bit out of it today so I'm not putting too much weight in my GMATPrep score, but needless to say I'm going to be doing nothing but OG questions until my test in 3 weeks.

Hey I wouldn't take the scores seriously. No test prep company score is accurate. My quant scores from various tests I have taken in the last 15 days(in that order):

GMAT prep1: 48
MGMAT : 48
Veritas 1 : 41
Veritas 2 : 41
GMAT focus: 47-51 with 80% confidence

So, what's my actual level?

I think, all these CATS make you ready for the exam; they are not even close to the real deal. Some are easy(veritas). Some are tough(MGMAT). Some are moderate(GMAT prep1). Just concentrate on analyzing the exam to identify the weak areas. Don't worry with the scores.

I have the same issue.

Flirting with the 680-710 range on all my recent MGMAT CATs and GMATPrep1 (680), while on Friday 10/07/2011 I scored a 730 on GMATPrep2.

Veritas Prep had a quantitative section that was far too easy, yet somehow I still only scored a 44.

I saw someone voice a complaint about the Tony's Autoshop DS question, and I thought to myself: "Whatever, chances are I won't see that question since it's a CAT." Lo and behold, the question popped up. I got it wrong but only because I misread the question and didn't notice it was asking about the end of the year vice the beginning.

Verbal was tougher, but no tougher than anything I've encountered on MGMAT or GMAT Prep, yet I scored a lowly 37. I did get 11 wrong, so part of it could be my own doing...

But honestly I submitted the exam fully expecting to see a 720+ minimum. Needless to say, I was shocked by the 640.

I haven't scored below a 680 on any CAT for the past month. And when I do score in the high 600's, I knew I struggled before I submit and see my score.

If I felt that I did well, or that the content was easy, I usually see a 700+.

So yeah, I'm going to argue here that the algorithm and the question content for the VeritasPrep CAT is dubious in accuracy.

I switched over because I maxed out the MGMAT ones (did all 6). I think I may go back to their CATs regardless, even if I risk question repeats.

The math section is definitely not realistic. Almost every other question was on work rates (sometimes four in a row). No question was truly challenging. Not a single question on geometry or combinatorics.

In my experience, the official GMAT Prep CATs came closest to the real thing. Knewton and MGMAT were fairly close, but harder (especially MGMAT--needlessly hard sometimes). 800Score's math section is insane (some solutions require knowledge the real GMAT would never would), don't even bother with it.

I'm new to this site (very happy with it so far!), and I'm eagerly reading the responses and prep advice for tips. I took the Vertias test (at work for the first time today, which was a bit nerve racking since there were a few distractions), but still took it straight through. I scored exactly 100 points lower than my last test on the mba.com website. This gives me some relief that it may not suddenly be me forgetting everything I tried learning in the past few weeks...

Yes, I scored in the low 600s when I first started practicing. You'll be fine.

I'm going to give my brutally honest assessment here. Veritas Prep CAT simply isn't as good or as accurate as MGMAT or even 800score.com CATs.

Here are the issues:

The scoring is off - one of the CATs I took, I scored a 740 (49Q 46V). 49Q 46V should result in a 760 or 770. I took another one and scored an abysmal 44Q to go with the 41V. It came out to 660. I'd like to caveat this by saying that I've been practicing on CATs for MONTHS and this is the first time I even saw a number less than 700 since October. The scoring is off. I was also shocked that my quant was so low, it seemed easy to me, but when I went back to review it, some of the questions were questions that you would never see on the real GMAT.

A question I remember very lucidly was a word problem that asked you to prime factorize a 9 digit number. Are you kidding me? That would take way longer than 2-3 minutes unless you were some sort of long division/arithmetic whiz.

The verbal had some errors as well. I remember take a few "print screens" because I noticed that option A didn't always mirror the original prompt in sentence corrections.

I received the CATs through the book I purchased: "Combinatorics and Probability", which is truly an A+ product. Excellent resource that helped me understand C&P a lot better than I did before.

However, Veritas Prep CATs definitely leave something to be desired. I give it a C.
