We can also go by eliminating B & E, as it violates the idiom "not only.....but also"

From A, C, D.....

Eliminate A for Pronoun ambiguity "them"
Eliminate D for passive voice at the end "have been forced

So C is the final one

D - not only has taken ...but also these restaurants have been forced (NOT PARALLEL; restaurants present only in Y); use of HAVE BEEN FORCED suggests that FORCING IS NOT DONE BY THE NEW LOCAL RESTURANT (different from original meaning)

C should be correct as them is replaced by restaruants to avoid ambiguity.

(C) is good as it clearly references the other restaurants.

This is a construction is preferred by GMAT.
