Hello,

Can anyone Opine on the below DS question:


1. For the students in class A, the range of heights is r centimeters and the greatest height is g centimeters. For the students in class B, the range of heights is s centimeters and the greatest height is h centimeters. Is the least height of the students in class A greater than the least height of the students in class B?
a. R < s
b. G > h

Both a & b together answers the queestion.
So answer choice should be D.

First consider (a),from range alone we could not come to a conclusion.
Then consider (b),from largest value we could not determine the least value.

When we take (a) & (b) together

First consider (b) which says G>H

Let G be 100 & H be 99 which is the maximum number that H can hold to meet G>H

Now consider (b) which says the range of A is smaller than that of B,R<S

Let S be 10 and R be 9 which meets R<S


So,least value for A is (100 - 9) which is 91
least value for B is (99 -10) which is 89

Thus, least value of A is always greater than the least value of B.

You got the qustion right ... just be careful with the choices. when both statements are sufficient, its C
