Pronoun Case Confusion

by bluebird42 » Sat Jun 04, 2011 5:42 am
I can't wrap my head around cases where the pronoun is the object of the sentence.

- Is the following example correct?

- I learned that sentences should be correct if you "take out" the other noun in the case of a compound subject, e.g. "John and I went to work." -> "I went to work" makes sense, whereas "Me when to work" does not make sense. So in the following example, "The party was where Bob and ME drank." -> "The party was where me drank" is wrong? Shouldn't it be "The party was where I drank"?

- Are there better examples that teach pronoun case?

(Example from https://800gmatblog.zoxic.com/sentence-c ... n-lesson-4)

WRONG: The party was where Bob and I drank.

CORRECT: The party was where Bob and ME drank.

Party is the subject of the sentence. The pronoun is the object of the sentence so we use the object pronoun me.

Hi,
I think the object of the sentence is not just pronoun. The subordinate clause 'where Bob and I drank' is the object of this sentence and I is the subject in that clause. So, I should be correct.

So, 'The party was where Bob and I drank' is correct in my opinion.
Cheers!
