(B) Unlike many women settlers in the nineteenth-century American West, whose craftwork was accorded low status, Native American women of the Plains tribes
(C) Native American women of the Plains tribes, unlike the craftwork of many women settlers in the nineteenth-century American West,
(D) The craftwork of many women settlers in the nineteenth-century American West was accorded low status, while that of the Native American women of the Plains tribes
(E) While low status was accorded the craftwork of many women settlers in the nineteenth-century American West, that of Native American women of the Plains tribes
Though I find B to be correct, I have no reason to cancel D out. Anybody ?? explain Please....

IMO D says...work of native women...received wealth etc...since in D that refers to work...

D looks passive to me.

Ok, guys, I made a mistake while i selected D as the correct choice..
i went through this question again now and just saw the words "their craftwork". Now if we select D then "that of" refers to craftwork but we already have craftwork at the end, so this is awkward and wrong.. Yes, first statement in D is passive but i think the major error is in the last statement..

So correct answer is B..but not D..

the logic subject of the last part of the sentence must be persons. only B give this kind of subject.
