Which are the top 5 full time MBA programs in US ? (based on general perception and not on online ranking systems that seem to vary each year)

Thanks !

How can people speak to general perception without just parroting the rankings? We can only each speak to our own opinions, which are not based on anything but broad ideas. No one has attended all of them to make a truly informed response. The better question is to ask yourself what are the 5 best MBA programs FOR ME.

Agreed.

General Perception around the internet...
1 Harvard
2 Stanford
3 Wharton or Booth
4 Wharton or Booth
5 Kellogg or MIT or Columbia or Haas or Tuck

These are not my top 5, my top 5 look nothing like this.

That's pretty much on the dot...
and I TOTALLY agree about "top five for ME". If you were in Healthcare or energy for example, your list would look NOTHING like this...

Out of curiosity Highwyre, what is YOUR top5?

I agree with Highwyre assessment...

The rankings become especially difficult when you get to that #5 spot, since most of those schools are so incredibly different from one another.

please help in selecting suitable 5 bschools for me -

a) post-mba entrepreneurship in education
b) i want close-knits b-schools where team work is second to none and where a) is given importance as that will also increase my chances of admission
c) age-26, indian, 3.8yr work experience in high tech and lot of ngo experience in education
d) expecting gmat 740 (exam in few days)
e) last year rejected from ISB and Booth coz of gmat score (31 V)

i noted following as 3 suitable for me (need 2 more for reporting scores on exam day)
Kellogg, Tuck, ISB

Experts, please share your view on following
1) any advice on my list - addition or deletion of any school
2) how about darden/hkust/haas/kelley/cornell/nus/emory/tepper - are they easy/tough for my profile.
3) any other schools for me (i want to get into b-school this year, so need some easy to get into BUT GOOD schools for my profile) - not focusing on BABSON coz i want to do MBA from bschool that has brand value
4) i don't know what are things schools in 2) look for. their requirements are almost similar and that is what confuses me :) in deciding where my chances are good. one the basis of my research i came to know that wharton/columbia/stern are hard-core finance and harvard is for IB so decided not to apply to these - am i correct in evaluating my chances at these school
Premise: If you like my post
Conclusion : Press the Thanks Button ;)

Right now, I'm a bit more realistic. (no H/S/W in my future) my goal is Brand Management in the North East

1 Tuck - 100% perfect fit
2 Kellogg - yep, I'd choose Tuck over Kellogg, and I'm going for Marketing
3 Fuqua - Seems like Tucks larger cousin to the south
4 Haas - It would be higher if I was looking to be end up on the west coast
5 Stern or Johnson

I think this list says alot about what I'm looking for in a school. I have bought into the whole "fit" hoopla, and boy do I fit into all of these.

Good question you've asked. Before going to say which program will be better I wanna want say which filed you are interest. To select a program according to the choice is most important for any student because he/she can easily get vast knowledge and able to make better career.

According to Finance is the best full time program why i am saying cause I like to research in finance domain.

The metropolitan city like Delhi you may get lots of MBA college but you will get few institute who are specially specialized in Finance program. I am doing in Finance at Metropolitan School of Management and next year my degree will be going to complete. I joined at MSM because they are providing PGPM training in UK which is the most important for me to get placement in finance sector in India.
