If I can! You can too!! 710( Q=50; V=35)

IF I CAN! YOU CAN TOO!!

So, here I am with my journey of GMAT. I appeared for GMAT on 9 feb and secured 710(Q=50, V=35); though its not a good score to boost upon but I am satisfied with the score. I aimed it and achieved it.

My Journey:

GMAT struck to my mind when I had some lean period after a hectic project and hectic work schedule, so, I decided to give the GMAT a shot and scheduled my date on June 2011. But, things do not always turn up as per our expectations and I ended with a mere score of 580 (Q 49, V20). Though the major role in my disappointing result was played by the test center. If you like to know my experience in the test center please visit the link https://www.beatthegmat.com/disappointme ... tml#382719. I complained GMAC about the center and they reviewed my case and finally offered me the free test, but they denied to cancel my previous test result.

So, I was back to my GMAT path but now I was a little more conscious because I knew this will be considered my second attempt and I wanted to use it wisely. I scheduled the test after two months but again fortune played his role and I was transferred to my new location with a new project. Because of a lot of turbulence I was not able to concentrate for the next 6 months. But decided to give the GMAT a final shot on 9 feb and contended with 710(Q=50, V=35).

My preparation:

I was very week in verbal which you can easily gauge by my first attempt GMAT score (V=20). I already completed the official guides and Manhattan verbal but verbal was still pathetic for me. There were lot of moments when I thought to give up and to concentrate on my job. I like to mention that I am an engineer so I was good in quant but verbal was not my cup of tea. Through some sites I came to know about e-gmat and grockit. And, guys, I want to give the whole credit for my 700+ mark to both the sites.

E-gmat helped me to attack the SC and then I subscribed to their official guide verbal review solutions and their approach to attack the SC really helped me a lot. I must say this is a nice package for the ones who struggle in SC. I also want to thank Payal (e-gmat administrator) for her help and support rendered to me.

Grockit is an excellent resource for practice. It has a lot of GMAT type questions which are really timed and you can always practice them online. Sometimes they are less like practice but more like a fun game. I really appreciate Grockit founder's innovative idea and epitomize it as a perfect resource for practice.

For the ones who like to know my Mock test scores:

1. MGMAT1: 570( Q 41, V 28)
2. MGMAT2: 630( Q46, V31)
3. PRINCETON TEST1: 580( Q47, V23)
4. PRINCETON TEST2: 600( Q43, V30)
5. GMAT PREP TEST1: 610(Q49,V25)
6. MGMAT TEST3: 660( Q46, V34)
7. GMAT PREP2: 720( Q48, V40)- few days before the actual exam

D day:

After having my very bad experience at my first GMAT center I scheduled my test at pearson center at delhi. I reached delhi a day before my exam and checked my center. On the D day I reached at 8: 15am for my 9:00 am appointment. The center was very good, proctor was very courteous and the environment was up to the mark with nil disturbances. AWA started and I felt that I was doing well, in the break I tool a bite of dark chocolate which I kept at my allotted locker. Then started quant, it was good but I became short of time and had to rush in the last questions. Again break and a few bites of the chocolate. In verbal, initially, I took some time and felt that I was doing well when I saw the bold face question. But again I became short of time in verbal and had to guess some questions in the end. After a few formal instructions a screen appeared, I want to keep the score or I want to cancel it, I prayed to god to show me at least 650 and after my next click screen flashed to me Quant: 50( 92 percentile) verbal 35( 74 percentile) total 710 ( 92 percentile). Thanks to all!!!! My next step!!!!
