A collage admissions officer predicts 20% of students who are accepted will not attend college. According to this prediction, how many students should be accepted to achieve a planned enrollment of x students?

A) 1.05x

B) 1.1x

C) 1.2x

D) 1.25x

E) 1.8x

Hi,
If n are accepted, 0.8n will attend(enroll)
So, for x to be enrolled, x = 0.8n =>n =1.25x

Hence, D

answer is 1/(1-1/5)=1.2

Both of you must have made calculation mistakes.
1/(1-1/5) = 1/(4/5) = 5/4 = 1.25

Could you explain how you came up with "1/(1-1/5)" ? I understand the calculation you performed, however, I'm not understanding where you get your methodology.

Instead of doing calculations, just pick numbers. Say the target number of students is 100 (x=100), then you would have to accept 125, because 25 or 20% of 125 will not attend.
