Over the past few years, most of the development in satellite engineering has been due to laws of physics, since it is based on either Einstein's work on relativity or on Newton's work on gravity.

IMO E

E's or N's work should modify the laws of physics; In C & D it is modifing to the development in satellite engineering , which is wrong.

Hi,
This question has been discussed about a month back. We were not 100% sure of the reason to eliminate E. A, as it stands seems just fine.
I believe A uses subordinate conjunction 'since' to emphasize that one is the reason for the other although not sure about what 'it' refers to. I think 'it refers to the subject of the first clause.
In E, I am not sure whether 'comma +based' is talking about the entire clause and so refers to the subject or is it referring to the noun(laws of physics) attached to it. Generally it should refer to the entire clause.
So, I have already PMed one of the experts to comment on this. So, I guess we will get the explanation soon.

Yeah.. They are the same. Could be typo. Everyone is more concerned about A and E. So, people hardly complained about it.

Option b is physics, since it is based on either on Einstein's work on relativity or
there is an extra "on" in B>

In option E it wrongly modifies physics I.e as if laws of physics were based n Einsten's theory of relativity or Newtons instead of development, therefore option E is wrong

Hi,
What do you mean by 'it'. You mean 'comma+based'? Can you explain why 'comma+past participle' modifies the noun attached to it rather than the entire clause?
