The rate of patents

by nahid078 » Fri Jul 03, 2015 9:23 am
The rate of patents being created is constantly accelerating as technology advances forward.

1) The rate of patents being created is constantly accelerating as technology advances forward

2) As technology advances, the rate of patents being created is constantly accelerating

3) The number of patents created is accelerating as technology advances

4) As technology advances forward, the rate of patents being created is constantly accelerating

5) As technology advances, patents are constantly accelerating

1) The rate of patents being created is constantly accelerating as technology advances forward
Incorrect - advances forward - redundant. This is similar as saying "reverse back".

2) As technology advances, the rate of patents being created is constantly accelerating
Correct.

3) The number of patents created is accelerating as technology advances
Incorrect - The number accelerating???

4) As technology advances forward, the rate of patents being created is constantly accelerating
Incorrect - advances forward - redundant. This is similar as saying "reverse back".

5) As technology advances, patents are constantly accelerating
Incorrect. Patents cannot accelerate.

I think the answer is 3

1,4 and 5 are wrong perfect explanation given above.

in 2 Constantly and accelerating are redundant plus "the number of" is better than "the rate of"
Can anyone be more specific about the elimination??? experts??

in 2 Constantly and accelerating are redundant
This is not true.

For example,
at 0seconds, a car is going 10mph
at 2seconds, the car is going 20mph
at 3seconds, the car is goign at 30mph
We can say the rate is constantly accelerating.

However,
at 0seconds, a car is going at 10mph
at 2seconds, the car is going at 5 mph
at 3seconds, the car is going at 30mph
At 4seconds, the car is going at 40mph
We cannot say the rate is constantly accelerating.

Hence the use of constantly and accelerating is never redundant.
