Since we have to ascertain whether the fee for June was less than $60, we must calculate for how many minutes above 200, one can call. Given that the fee is $0.50 for each minute above 200 minutes, to keep the fee within $60, one can call 200 + (60 – 50)/0.50 = 220 minutes.
Question rephrased: Was the call time in June less than 220 minutes?
Let's take each statement one by one.
1) Calling time for June was 180 minutes
Sufficient.
2) For 460 minutes of calling time, the fee would be four times as great as that for June
Let's calculate the fee for 460 minutes. It is 200*0.25 + (460 – 200)*0.50 = 50 + 130 = $180
=> Fee in June = 180/4 = $45 < $60.
Sufficient.
