"The last two years" requirement

by Vadim » Wed Mar 26, 2008 11:42 am
When MBA schools say, "at least a 3.0 gpa in your last 2 undergraduate years", do they mean any courses that you take in your last two years, or 3-year and 4-year level courses? I'm asking this, because I am in my second year and am already taking 3 year level courses.

Also, how important is it to have a 3.0 gpa in your first 2 undergraduate years, since they mention the last two. That is, if I have a B average in my first two years and a B+ average in the last two, will my grades for the first two years be considered?

Thanks,
Vadim.

Dear Vadim:

Your grades throughout your academic career are considered so you need to do the best you can in every semester. Your entire transcript will be evaluated for any trends as well as how you do in quantitative coursework. If a school explicitly states you need to have a minimum 3.0 in your final two years, then they are looking for evidence of your academic aptitude in handling increasingly difficult courses. By "last two years", they mean the last 4 semesters/6 trimesters/8 quarters depending on the system you are on.

Lisa
