Hi All,
I am looking for some advise on where to go with this. I finished the Princeton Review (In-Class sessions)about 25 days ago and studied for about 5 hours a day until taking the GMAT. I used the Princeton review tips and memorized all the formulas for math as well as did a ton of problems in the OG12. When doing the math problems I could see the solution and understand how to do them. I think the problem was that I was not approaching the problems properly from the start. Setting up word problems is the hardest thing for me.
I ended up getting a 340 on the GMAT. 18Q and 18V
I must say that I did not find the Princeton Review that helpfull. All the teacher did in class was read out of the book therefore there was not much benefit in doing a classroom version vs. just a internet study option.
Now I am not sure where to go from here. I have heard good things about Manhattan review but am considering a private tutor. I would think that I need to get at least a 625 to have a chance in getting accepted to decent schools.
Any advise?

Why don't you start studying on your own for sometime instead of going to jumping to another prep course/tutor...
Now that you have your basic concepts in place, make a study plan for yourself and start studying again...if you find the need of a tutor during your studies then you can always contact MGMAT...When do you need to retake the test? I think getting your score up to 600+ is not hard but you will need some more effort and time..
Maintain an error - log of your practise problems and that will help you identify the ares where you are week or need to work on
This is exactly what I am doing for my next attempt
I'm going to come up with a study plan and then do it all over again!!!
Good Luck

I agree with the above comment. I think studying on your own and determining specific areas for improvement should be step #1.
I would also spend sometime figuring out exactly how you learn best. Is it reading and taking notes, doing problems or having someone work through problems visually & orally? Find out which works best for you and then invest your resources (time, money, etc) accordingly.

hiya,
dont beat yourself up.Last year i took the GMAT and had 310, worse than your 340 score.I have identified weaknesses and have seen much improvement.I have a friend who tutors me twice a week but i have realised that when i study on my own i make much progress and its less stressful.I also used the princeton review last year which is verybasic.Right now i use The Kaplan and also OG 12th edition.Beat the GMat forum and Grokit are also very resourceful.I was very slow in RC but using irisreading.com more reading speed has increased.
Keep doing what you are doing, put in more effort, time and it will pay off.You can get motivation from this forum.
Hope this helps
