Could someone explain the answer for this question. OG12 says 'E'. But I am not convinced with the explanation.

i kept (D) and (E) as contenders, and eliminated the other answers.
i can make (what i think) are good arguements for both, but obviously there is only one answer. interested to find the correct answer an reasoning.
if this were the GMAT, i feel E has stronger reasoning than D, and that's what i would select.
