Let's just go through some things for each answer:
A) 'as well as' is redundant...
B) 'both' should come after 'in'
C) 'winning prestigious ... a young age' in this case is a participial phrase (which are always adjectives). As there is not a list of such phrases ', hoping is incorrect because the sentence would read 'The 19-year-old pianist and composer performed his most recent work all over Europe, Asia, and North America last year hoping to continue' this makes no sense.
E) 'as well as' is redundant...
Hope that helps... pick out the easy things to eliminate answers.

As Jim points out, this is not really a parallelism question. The answer choices with "hoping" don't make sense in the context of the sentence, or they have other errors that allow you to eliminate them.
