Test Prep Suggestions

by Betterthantherest » Wed Feb 26, 2014 8:50 pm
Hi there! This is my first post :) I am looking to apply to a graduate school program in June, so I am planning on taking my GMAT in May. I bought the Manhattan Prep books and have been studying by myself, but because I am working 40+ hours a week I think I need a more structured study plan. I have decided that I am going to try taking an ONLINE class and I am looking between the Veritas and Manhattan Prep - can I have some honest suggestions as to what course would be better for studying in 2 months and online? Also, is it worth taking a class or just the online programs that are provided. Any information would be great, thanks!!!!

Hi Betterthantherest,

There are some things that you can do to find a Course that best fits your personality.

First, take a FULL-length practice CAT. There are 2 that you can get for FREE from mba.com or you can find a free marketing CAT through a Google search of GMAT Prep Providers. Once you have that score result, you'll have a better sense for your strengths and weaknesses. You're probably going to be upset by that first score; don't worry about it though - it just establishes your 'starting' ability.

You should do a bit of research to sample the various GMAT Course options available. Most GMAT Companies offer free trials or practice materials so that you can get a sense of the material that you're about to purchase. You should test out as many as seem appropriate and choose the one that best fits your personality, budget and timeline.
