52. Credited as one of the founders of Western Philosophy, the author is an enigmatic figure
known chiefly through the accounts of later classical writers
and the plays of his
contemporaries.

A. Credited as one of the founders of Western Philosophy, the author is an
enigmatic figure known chiefly through the accounts of later classical writers
B. Credited with being one of the founders of Western Philosophy, the author's
enigmatic figure is known chiefly through the accounts of later classical
writers
C. Credited to be one of the founders of Western Philosophy, the author is an
enigmatic figure known chiefly through the account of later classical writers
D. Credited with being one of the founders of Western Philosophy, the
author is an enigmatic figure known chiefly through the accounts of
later classical writers
E. Credited as one of the founders of Western Philosophy, the author is an
enigmatic figure known chiefly from the account of later classical writers
OA D
OE for A - The correct idiom is credited "—with' and not "—as'.
Updated OA and OE for why not A.

Although, the suspicious part of the sentence can be determined by comparing the question with option A, I understand its difficult to outline the same. Apologies for doing so. [Idiomatically correct] ;)

Yeah please underline

IMO A

Credited As i think is the correct Idiom, Drop B, C and D

Second, B/w A and E

two things:

1) Op A: accounts of later classical writers

Op E: account of later classical writers

I hope u got my point, writes must be having many accounts not just one

2) Though i know only 2 idioms about known:

Known to be and Known as...

But still i think, Known through is better then Known from..

Hence Op A

A vs D

My guess: credited with > credited as.... credited to be is wrong..

But being in D made me chose A

IMO A
First take: 640 (50M, 27V) - RC needs 300% improvement
Second take: coming soon..

excellent HSPA. i have the same problem. i am absolutely sure that credited as is incorrect. basically the sentence means giving responsibility of something... hence credit with should be correct. now B is incorrect due to modifier error. hence D should be correct.
well being is not always incorrect however i am not sure about the use of Being here.

Went for D as soon as was convinced with modifier issue and "credited with" -- IDIOM , i was sure about it , no wonder how much i hate idioms they do help to save time .

Hey Divya, your exam date is so close...best of luck, and must share your success story "how i beat the GMAT " in elite 700+ club...

Regarding the depth in fundas....here is one which Navjot Singh Siddhu said for Indian cricket team in WC...

Its not the depth of the ocean that matters but its the motion of the ocean that matters...so lage rahoooo....keep moving...
