A of comparable size , as well as emitting far less carbon dioxide gas and far fewer of the other gasses that have
B of comparable size, as well as emit far less carbon dioxide gas and far fewer of the other gasses having
C of comparable size, and also they emit far fewer carbon dioxide and other gasses that have
D that have a comparable size, and also they emit far fewer of the other gasses having
E that have a comparable size, as well as emitting far fewer of the other gasses having

So according to what have discussed above...What does THEY refer to in option C ?

Is there any ambiguity ?
There is no ambiguity is option C. They- refers to Diesel engines clearly.

C - far fewer - wrong

gases cant be countable - hence less should be used

the second part in option A - where few is used - it is comparing global warming gases - which can be counted, therefore, few is the correct construction.

Another error in option C is usage of comma + and - signifying independent clause structure, which is not required. We need subordinate clause.

Hope this helps. Let me knows if you have any doubts.
"far fewer gasses" is OK coz it implies diff types of gasses but not "far fewer carbon-di-oxide"
