If p is a positive number, what is the value of p?

1. Modulus p-2 = 1 (I hope one can imagine the modulus around p-2)
2. p^2=4p-3
You can, for example never foretell what any one man will do, but you can say with precision what an average number will be up to!

Statement 1

|p-2|= 1

So p-2 = 1 (i.e. p = +3)
or p-2 = -1 (i.e. p = +1)

Not Sufficient

Statement 2

p^2 = 4p - 3
p^2 - 4p + 3 = 0
(p-3) (p-1) = 0
p = + 3 or p = +1

Not Sufficient

Combine

p = +3 and + 1 is the common value in both statements.

Answer should be E
