Version 1 :

One of the limiting factors in human physical performance is the amount of oxygen that is absorbed by the muscles from the bloodstream. Accordingly, entrepreneurs have begun selling at gymnasiums and health clubs bottles of drinking water, labeled SuperOXY, that has extra oxygen dissolved in the water. Such water would be useless in improving physical performance, however, since the the amount of oxygen in the blood of people who are exercising is already more than the muscle can absorb

Which of the following, if true, would serve the same function in the argument as the statement in boldface?

A. world-class athletes turn in record performance without such water
B. frequent physical exercise increases the bodys ability to take in and use oxygen
C. the only way to get oxygen into the bloodstream so that it can be absorbed bye the muscles is through the lungs
D. lack of oxygen is not the only factor limiting human physical performance
E. the water lost in exercising can be replaced with ordinary tap water

David says OA is B : https://bt.www.beatthegmat.com/useless-b ... 66646.html

Ron says OA is C : https://www.manhattangmat.com/forums/one ... t5899.html

What's the correct OA ?

I feel the OA for first is C.
The part in bold shows why the water rich in oxygen won't be effective.

As far 2nd question-option C is concerned, i don't think it plays the role i have mentioned above ie. showing why the intake of water won't be effective.

Wow I have been misquoted! Is this how celebrities feel?

I spent a good amount of time sorting out this question and as you can see if you read the entire link that I have shown the official answer to the first question is C!!

The Official answer to the second question is B!!!

Please re-read the posting you have quoted!

C is not correct on the SECOND version because it does not matter if athletes can turn in records without the water, since they might still do better with the water. We need a reason why the water is useless since that is what the original portion does...
