Hi nileshpatil42,

Many test-takers have problems keeping a steady pace up for RC questions, so don't worry! With practice, you'll certainly be able to increase your speed.

Make sure to be on the lookout for the main point (of each paragraph as well as the passage as a whole) as you read. The first sentence of the paragraph often contains the main point. At Knewton, we teach students to keep their eyes out for the MAPS (Main Point, Attitude, Purpose, and Structure) of the passage. This helps you break the passage up logically and makes it easier to answer the questions at the end.

Taking notes will also help you when it comes time to answering questions related to the passage. It might seem like this would take more time but in fact the opposite is true!

Check out how to speed up your reading comprehension for some fun tips.

Oftentimes, test-takers have trouble reading quickly enough because the passage material is so unfamiliar. Check out what to read to help your Reading Comprehension for a list of magazines and books to read in your spare time. The more familiar you are with RC-passage-style prose, the better!

Lastly, check out how to stay focused on your Reading Comprehension for tips if you find yourself getting sleepy or bored.

Good luck!
